MISSION: CULTURE

Process:

My goals for this missions are to:
* Design and develop a presentation that discusses The Trouble with Internet Trolling.
* Present a case study that demonstrates this topic.
* Present it to an audience explaining and demonstrating internet trolls.
* Understand how trolling has an effect on humans on social media.
* Learn how to prevent trolling

I chose to do this mission as I know a lot about trolling and its an easy topic for me to understand.
The end product I hope to produce for this mission is a detailed presentation expressing the severity of trolling, as well as explaining what trolling is in detail and how it has had an affect on people on social media. With that I would like to present a case study demonstrating trolling through the perspective of a celebrity and how it has had an affect on them. I would like the presentation to contain slides covering how social media platforms try their best to further prevent trolling, and what measures are taken to work against such a horrible act. Visually speaking, I would like the presentation to be appealing to the viewers, visually expressing the culture of trolling, such as “troll face”. In the presentation I would like to discuss how the word trolling has evolved. I would also like to include facts and statistics related to trolling, I.e. how many people in average encounter internet trolls. This is to get a more statistical idea that would further contribute to my learning in detail.

Resources that could help me along the way would be a good presentation program. Examples of this are powerpoint and or Google slides. I made a decision to use Google slides as it can be accessed by all members of the group, and It allows artistic freedom, meaning I can add to the presentation visually and design it to further suit and better demonstrate the topic being discussed. Google it self could help me along the way considering I need to further research this topic and acquire images for demonstration purposes. Another source that can help me with my research is Youtube. I can watch trolling related documentaries and learn techniques and tricks people use to remain anonymous online whilst conducting this hateful act.

I want to learn why trolls do what they do. How their own lives have been shaped to contribute to them wanting to bully and project their insecurities and hate onto others. I want to explore trolling and learn to what extent a troll may go in order to really hurt someone online. I want to learn I trolls may have past trauma that contributes to this, as trolls can be victims too, could they be forced to troll? Do they fully understand the wrong in what they do?
Is boredom a factor that associates with this action?

And lastly I would like to raise awareness. I want my audience to know what measures they can take when encountering an internet troll. How they can avoid internet trolls. And how to completely diffuse an internet troll.

MISSION: CREATIVITY

Reflection
During this mission, I learned how to use GarageBand in depth, how to assert the notes in the correct manner to produce a good track that would catch the listeners attention. I learned how to upload my work on one drive to download it and further use it on another device. I learned that podcasts are actually much more popular than what I expected. I learned that good research contributes highly to the performance whilst presenting, I.e. Avoiding reading from slides whilst presenting and having the ability to always face the audience to establish presenting ground and constantly maintain their undivided attention.

During the mission I discovered that we are very surrounded by digital audio, more than I expected. Like podcasts for example. The success of podcasts exceeded my expectations. During the mission I discovered that teamwork Is very important and getting the work done along side each other is much more helpful rather than separately. This is to establish and maintain order whilst creating the presentation. Each persons ideas are equally taken into account, and after breaking down the ideas, the best ones from each group member are the ones to be presented. I learned that I can spend hours on end creating music, this mission confirmed my true life goal and my true passion, which is to create music.

During the presentations we failed to create one presentation that is shared between the members of the group. Instead we made individual presentations which then took way too much time to present. This resulted in my classmates having to rush in presenting their presentations, taking up extra class time. It was a lesson to be learned. I failed to deliver my track as we took too long setting up and switching between the presentation, hence why it would have been a better idea to stick with only one presentation between the three of us. I failed in referencing the definitions I acquired from google, which is known as plagiarism. However, we did succeed in demonstrating 2 tracks that show an example of a form of digital audio, that being music.

The aspects in which I was most proud of are the tracks, I believe we put in lot of effort creating the tracks in order to demonstrate Music as being a form of Digital Audio. The tracks were catchy, the melodies had good flow, the beat was bouncy and it definitely attracted the listeners, this was evident during the presentation when the tracks were presented. Facial expressions and body language/movement showed that the listeners were enjoying the tracks played.

MISSION: CREATIVITY

PRODUCT:

The product I created was a short track representing my knowledge of Digital Audio. To make this track I used GarageBand. I decided to name the track “Jungle Saga” as it is jungle themed and based. It took approximately 3 hours to make this short track considering I produced it from scratch. I decided to use unusual instruments not heard so much in today music, this is to give the track a unique style of music, tribe like music. I decided to create the track to make it simple and quick just to show an idea demonstrating Digital Audio. I put it together in the F block MacLab, the garage band in the college Mac labs  has all exclusive content downloaded and it was a place where I focused. My project mates and I also recorded a brief podcast to demonstrate the idea of podcasts when it comes to digital audio.

Working on the presentation was easy, my two project mates and I made 3 different presentations, I used Google slides for mine and in it I discussed the concept of music and how it has shaped society, that being the diversity of genres of music as well as earphones and how they contributed to music and digital audio in general. Copyright policies the way the notes are placed and melodies are composed can be copied to sound like an existing song/melody. It took about 3 hours researching the topic and an hour composing the presentation.

I helped my project mate Lateef with his track as he was struggling with using garage band, since I have previous with garage band, I gave him a hand in a lining the melodies and putting ad lips in.

The presentation is bright yellow and blue, I chose these colours to attract the audiences attention as much as possible.
The track has a hard beat to it, this is because people like a strong beat with a soft melody. I would identify my track as somewhat strange due to its style but I want it to be that way as I want to make it enjoyable and a new experience for the listener.

We decided to cancel the podcast idea as that would take up too much time in the presentation.
We planned how we were going to present in the order of Roman, Lateef and lastly myself. After each presentation they person presenting then has to present their track.

With the presentation equally divided like so, I then realized It was a bad idea to have 3 separate presentations as that would take way too long to present and to switch between presentations.

MISSION: CREATIVITY

Process:

My goals for this mission are to :

* Produce a music track using GarageBand, my 2 project mates will also be doing so. I would like this music track to be subtle yet complicated, something somewhat slow yet full of energy.
* Produce a podcast involving both of my group mates. This will be done using a phone microphone.
* Create a presentation defining what Digital Audio is, what music is, what podcasts are, how music has affected the human population. Talk about copyright and why it exists.
* Present the tracks to the audience and give out sticky notes asking them to write down feelings\emotions they associated with each track heard.
* Write a blog documenting this mission. Process, Product and Reflection.
* Learn from my mistakes.

The end product I hope to produce is an original track, associated with the jungle of some sort. I want this track to be unique and grab the listeners attention. My teammates and I hoped to produce a quick podcast to have it as an example within the presentation.
The presentation end product that I hope to produce is an interesting, factual and a somewhat humorous presentation, all combined I hope it would grab the audiences attention and would be enjoyable for them. I want to do this as I do not want my audience to suddenly dose off because of boredom, by making my audience laugh, they would pay more attention for the rest of the presentation hoping to laugh again, its how humans work. I want it to be interesting and factual so my audience are impressed with the new information presented to them. I want my audience to learn something new as it would not be a presentation without an audience to present to.

Resources that could assist me along the way would be good music production apps that are easy to edit with such as GarageBand, audacity. I also would like a bright presentation that is visually appealing and has many fonts and colours and editing options to come up with the perfect eye catching presentation. Options I have in mind for this is Google slides and or powerpoint. Though, I am leaning towards google slides more considering once everyone has linked their email to it, they can then easily access it and work on it simultaneously.

I would like for this presentation to be enthusiastic and uplifting, I will practice this by ensuring my project mates and I briefly rehearse the presentation before hand. By rehearsing, it will prevent any nervousness, stuttering and confusion whilst presenting.

I would like my project mates to also come up with different genres of tracks to demonstrate the variety of music and digital audio. This will make the presentation more interesting and will also keep the audience tuned in, as diversity is attractive.

During the short podcast we hope to produce it to be around 1 minute long, again just an example to demonstrate podcasts and how they work, this will be presented after we define and talk about podcasts.

MISSION: CULTURE

The presentation was well presented and good research skills were shown, but as we sat down and discussed the grade we believed we deserved we found that it would have been a guaranteed excellent if we had a project backing up the presentation. This opened my eyes and has me cautious for the next presentation, the last mission will be an excellent.

MISSION: CULTURE

Moe, Niamh and I started off the Trolling presentation by going to the library and planning the presentation, we equally divided the work. I have to do the images and design on the presentation as well as some slides.

MISSION: CREATIVE

Went to the mac lab and spent 2.5 hours making a beat using loop on GarageBand, as i was reviewing it with one of my class mates, the mac crashed and turned off. I lost all motivation and was very disappointed considering i was very happy with how the beat turned out. I then loaded up garage band on another mac and created almost the exact same beat, I attempted to send my beat to my own macbook in "project" form so i can work on it from home but an error kept popping up, so i am going to go back to the mac lab later on with my group members and attempt to finish the beat.

MISSION: CREATIVE

Have just created a WhatsApp group chat and added my 2 group members. The group chat will be where discussions take place regarding the project.
Currently brainstorming, trying to come up with something that contains more than one aspect of entertainment so that the project does not get boring when presented. Thinking of incorporating some comedy when presenting the project. I tend to think ahead of the actual day this is presented to ensure the audience is always eager to see/hear more.

MISSION: CREATIVE

DECIDING THE MISSION AND PICKING GROUP.

My group consists of 3 people including myself, Lateef and Roman.
We did some research and thinking on what mission to do, we decided to choose digital audio.
At first they were not as keen as me to pursue the digital audio mission until I explained the mission and used GarageBand as an example, I used the 'loop' option to demonstrate how loop scan be put together to create a piece of music,  during my demonstration I let them listen to tracks I have created in my spare time using GarageBand.
